Abdulkadir Akin is currently studying towards his master of science (MS) degree in Electronics Engineering at Sabanci University, Istanbul; under the surveillance of Prof. Ilker Hamzaoglu. Abdulkadir is also working as a research assistant in System on Chip Design and Test Lab in Sabanci University. He is the course assistant of ENS 203 (Circuit I) and EL 310 (Hardware Description Languages) courses. During his MS study, he supervised 3 undergraduate project groups for their graduation projects. He worked in HD-TV video enhacement department of Vestek (R&D of Vestel Electronics). He recieved his bachelor degree in Electronics Engineering from Sabanci University in 2008, and he also completed Mathematics Minor Honour Programme.

His research interests focus on digital hardware architecture design and implementation of video processing algorithms, and developing video enhancement algorithms. He has advanced knowledge about H.264 Video Compression Standard and Motion Compensated Frame Rate Up Conversion. He implemented low power and low cost hardware architectures of several video compression and frame rate up conversion algorithms. He publicated 2 IEEE Journal Papers and 4 International Conference Papers about his research on motion estimation. He implemented hardware architecture of sharpness algorithm for Vestel Electronics, and the hardware architecture is used in Pixellence v.2 televisions of Vestel for suppling real contours. He also implemented hardware architectures of several cryptographic algorithms.
