Welcome to Alper’s Bioinformatics Corner.
The aim of these pages are to give information about biological and computer science background of bioinformatics. You can find some links, tutorials, articles, tables and sample codes related with bioinformatics.
If you interested in this corner please register to this site and share your ideas, comments or articles.
Bioinformatics is the use of computers and information science to study genetic information and biological structures. Bioinformatics is a newly emerging interdisciplinary research area. Researchers combine two fileld of science. These are biological and computational sciences. Most of the bioinformatics projects deal with analyzing biological data using computational methods.
First of all it is essential to collect data. Large amount of data are collected by the biologists and research teams all over the world such as GDB , SWISS-PROT , GenBank and PDB. You can find the links of these databases at the links section.
Second this data has to be analyzed using with most efficient alghortim. There are numerous technics to analayze it but the point is to find best alghoritm for certain condititions of the data. In this pages you will mainly find data mining technics such as clustering, classifying, rule extraction etc.
Some tools have already written and they can be found on the internet easily. In these pages you can find some sources to help you to write your own programs which is related with data analysis. I am mainly using c++, java, php, vb and perl for that reason you may find some usefull sample codes and articles in these programming languages which was written by me or the other researchers.
I hope, Alper’s corner helps you in your researches…
